Swim into the light, my son.

So, I went for my first workout since arriving in Holland. A nice brisk swim at the local 25m pool on Thursday night. And guess what, that’s disco night – for old ladies…

The pool now has LED lighting, which makes it look like a cheesy 80′s nightclub with blacklights. Remember those? The only good thing about blacklights in a nightclub is that they turn skimpy white tops and skirts see-through. In a pool full of old ladies – this is not an advantage.

So, picture this blue pool with me trying to zig-zag through the masses of senior citizens at speed. Yes, I was the only one doing freestyle and I stuck out like a sore thumb.

Anyhow, here’s what I did:
500m | 400m | 300m | 200m | 100m | 50m | 25m = 1575m

Each set at a faster pace, with a full-out sprint for the 50 and 25, and each set in a negative split.

Felt fantastic afterwards… but I really need to find another timeslot to go swim!

What do you think?
